Language Maintenance - Challenge 2:

Public Impression Towards Minority Languages in Hong Kong

"When I was in the market with my mom, people might think my mom is my domestic helper.”
- Elder daughter

Hong Kong people may not treat people speaking minority lang or look like minority as part of hong kong people, and this is a sense of exclusion simply from the different language they speak or different way they look.

Hong Kong people might regard them as different identities based on different contexts, for instance, when they are in some tourist spots, they might think they are tourists.

In this case, this might hinder the language maintenance as they do not want to be discriminated , they want to look like and act like part of the Hong Kong people.
